Τι είναι τα ATC’s;

Προκειμένου η γεμμολογική εκπαίδευση και η απονομή διπλωμάτων γεμμολογίας να μην περιορίζεται μόνο στις σχολές γεμμολογίας των βρετανικών νησιών, το Gem A επέλεξε παγκόσμια 19 κέντρα τα οποία έχουν τις προϋποθέσεις σε έμψυχο υλικό και τεχνικό εξοπλισμό να εφαρμόζουν τα εκπαιδευτικά προγράμματα του.

Τα κέντρα αυτά ονομάζονται Allied Teaching Centers, γνωστά ως ATC’s. Οι χώρες στις οποίες βρίσκονται ATC’s είναι το Βέλγιο, η Ελλάδα, οι ΗΠΑ, η Ιαπωνία, η Ινδία, ο Καναδάς, η Κένυα, η Κίνα, η Κορέα, η Μεγάλη Βρετανία, το Μυανμάρ (Βιρμανία), η Νορβηγία, η Ολλανδία, η Σινγκαπούρη, η Σουηδία, η Ταϋλάνδη, η Σρι Λάνκα, η Φινλανδία και το Χονγκ Κονγκ. Στα κέντρα εκπαίδευσης των παραπάνω χωρών μπορούν να φοιτούν ενδιαφερόμενοι κάτοικοι της συγκεκριμένης χώρας ή άλλης γειτονικής, εφόσον δεν υπάρχει άλλο πλησιέστερο ATC.

Το ATC της Ελλάδας

       Στην Ελλάδα ως Σχολή Γεμμολογίας (ATC) λειτουργεί το εκπαιδευτικό τμήμα του Gem Testing Laboratory Athens ATC (GTL Athens), το οποίο φέτος συμπληρώνει 25 χρόνια λειτουργίας. Το GTL είναι πλήρως εξοπλισμένο με τα απαραίτητα όργανα υψηλής τεχνολογίας που απαιτούνται για τις γεμμολογικές εξετάσεις, παρέχει προσβάσεις σε πανεπιστημιακά εργαστήρια και σε μεγάλα γεμμολογικά εργαστήρια του εξωτερικού (Cubelin, SSEF, GIA, κλπ), καθώς και διαθέτει περισσότερα από 2500 δείγματα χρωματιστών πολύτιμων λίθων όλων των ειδών. Ολα τα παραπάνω βρίσκονται στη διάθεση των σπουδαστών γιά χρήση ή εξέταση. Ιδιαίτερα οι σπουδαστές της αδαμαντολογίας εκπαιδεύονται σε διαμάντια που στο σύνολό τους ξεπερνούν τα 800 καράτια, με διαμάντια που το καθένα κυμαίνεται σε βάρος από 0.30 έως 15.00 καράτια.

Διευθυντής του GTL Athens είναι ο Αλέξανδρος Σεργουλόπουλος B.Sc., M.Sc., FGA, DGA, γεωλόγος, γεμμολόγος, αδαμαντολόγος, πρώην πρόεδρος του συλλόγου γεμμολόγων Ελλάδος. Ως απόρρεια των μεταπτυχιακών του σπουδών στην κρυσταλλογραφία των πολύτιμων λίθων, ο κ. Σεργουλόπουλος έχει εκτενέστατη εμπειρία στον τομέα της αξιολόγησης, κοπής και εμπορίας διαμαντιών και άλλων πολύτιμων λίθων.

GTL Athens offers courses for the Foundation Certificate in Gemmology, the Diploma in Gemmology, the Diamond Practical Certificate and the Gem Diamond Diploma. 

All examinations are held at the examination centers of the British Council in Athens. 

• Foundation Certificate in Gemmology and Diploma in Gemmology (in English)

        A two academic year program, during which students are taught all theoretical and practical aspects of gemstones. It consists of the first year (Foundation Certificate in Gemmology) and the second year (Diploma). The first year has to be successfully completed in order for a student to attend the second year.

• Diamond Practical Certificate (in English or Greek)

        One academic year program, during which students are taught to classify rough and polished diamonds (Diamond Practical Certificate).

• Gem Diamond (in English)

        One academic year program, during which students are taught all theoretical and practical aspects of diamonds (Gem Diamond Diploma).

Pioneers in gemmological education

The science of gemmology can trace its origins back to 1908 in Great Britain. The decision to create a medium for professional gemmological education resulted in the formation of the Gemmological Association and Gem Testing Laboratory of Great Britain, recently renamed to Gem A (www.gem-a.info). The tremendous experience gained from identification and evaluation of the British crown jewels, in addition to the fact that London is the distribution center of 60% of the world’s rough diamond production, contributed in the first gemmological diploma in 1913. The above two reasons, combined with the traditional and sometimes tough British education, resulted in a gemmological diploma whose holders are described as the “elite” of gemmologists.

Block Appearance

This theme provides a number of settings for each module position. You can apply different background colors and vertical paddings and remove horizontal padding. Each block can have a default, large or full width layout and can be aligned to the left or right.

Navbar Layouts

Edge theme features four different layouts for the main navigation. The menu can be centered and aligned to the left or right. Additionally, it can be centered with the logo above the menu. You can apply a sticky navbar on desktops and on mobile devices, so it will remain fixed at the top of the window when scrolling. Another option extends the dropdown to the width of the entire browser window.

Article Layout

Edge theme comes with an optional blog layout. You can now decide whether your image will be positioned to the left or to the right of your content. The title and meta data of the article are enhanced with a border that slightly overlaps the image.

Image Border

As a little visual extra, Edge features the .tm-image-border class. Adding it to a container element with an image inside, will apply an offset border that matches the panel box styling.

Title Border

You can apply the same border style from the blog layout to any other heading. Just add the .tm-title-border class to a container element. We also provide responsive alignment classes, e.g. .tm-title-border-small-left to overlap image and heading inside a grid until they stack.
